Computer Instruction
Adult Learning Programs of Alaska offers affordable, introductory computer classes. Each class meets twice per week (90 minutes per class) for 6 weeks. The topics we currently offer are:
- Introduction to Computers
- A hands-on computer course designed to provide a practical introduction to computers. Students will learn the basics of the WindowXP operating system including how to create, save, organize and retrieve files, customize the desktop, use the Internet and more.
- Introduction to Word
- Acquire new processing skills using Word 2003. Students will create and format text, paragraphs and documents. Other topics include saving a documents, opening and closing files, setting margins, using columns, working with graphics to enhance documents and more.
- Word, part 2
- Explore more advanced word processing skills in Microsoft 2003. Course topics include mail merge, using templates, the format painter, how to create macros, customize toolbars, integrate programs in the Office suite and more.
- Introduction to Excel
- Discover the practical uses of spreadsheets through hands-on experience using Microsoft 2003. Students will learn to create and use spreadsheets for statistical information, financial statements, loan comparisons and fun. Topics include formatting cells, creating simple formulas, inserting charts and more.
- Excel, part 2
- Explore more advanced spreadsheet applications and learn new skills through hands-on training with Microsoft 2003. Course topics include using multiple worksheets, working with complex functions, creating custom forms, sorting and filtering information and more.
